Way to go, Wayn-o!!!!!!!!! It will turn up better after it gets some time on it. The Vess 23A is around 7300 on a broken-in DL.
With just two tanks, it sounds like you're close. If it isn't bogging/hesitating when throttling up, you're not too lean....I have found the starting gets more difficult when the idle is too lean, and just a LITTLE tweak on the needle is a BUNCH on this engine.
