This is EXACTLY what the sport of Radio Control needs, and I hope it works out well.
As much as I love the TOC, most of it is pretty boring to watch. I am an IMAC and Pattern pilot and certainly can appreciate the talent needed to fly those sequences so well, however we all go to see the Freestyle.
What the sport/hobby of radio control needs is public exposure, IE: TV COVERAGE. TV coverage brings sponsors, sponsors bring money, money brings the pilot level, pilot level brings spectators. We need a 3D/Freestyle contest could be televised. Pattern style flying and racing is not good viewing especially for TV. 3D, high alpha, hovering is perfect for TV.
I think this is what they are trying to do with this version of the TOC. I do object to the name, they could have come up with a different one.
I look forward to this event and certainly want more information about it.
