Wow, I am really very happy to see someone take the batton and run. It might not seem like much now, but I think that if the popularity is there, it will grow to be longer, and with more $$$$ prize money (although $15000 would do me quite well!).
Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Robert.

Nice to see someone is trying...although this event will be different than the TOC in scope. The TOC was international...
I wonder if we'll know the competitor list beforehand....
Cool!

The only info I know of is at the link the thread originator posted.
There may be more...But it appears that the event sponsor is the company that owns that website.
I could be wrong, of course.

This sounds like a one day fun fly with a cheesy name. I hope that the original TOC formula can somehow be preserved and the tradition continued.
The Totally Outrageous Challenge doesn't seem like the TOC traditional at all. Just a hack on a well established and historically significant acronym.
I hope I'm wrong.

Perhaps this will hold us over until a true "TOC" is organized for 2004? Would be nice to see the return of true "Olympic" level competition. Without the TOC there doesn't exist a true professional level to our sport.

This is EXACTLY what the sport of Radio Control needs, and I hope it works out well.
As much as I love the TOC, most of it is pretty boring to watch. I am an IMAC and Pattern pilot and certainly can appreciate the talent needed to fly those sequences so well, however we all go to see the Freestyle.
What the sport/hobby of radio control needs is public exposure, IE: TV COVERAGE. TV coverage brings sponsors, sponsors bring money, money brings the pilot level, pilot level brings spectators. We need a 3D/Freestyle contest could be televised. Pattern style flying and racing is not good viewing especially for TV. 3D, high alpha, hovering is perfect for TV.
I think this is what they are trying to do with this version of the TOC. I do object to the name, they could have come up with a different one.
I look forward to this event and certainly want more information about it.

From: Vista, CA,
I read somewhere that there WILL be a TOC in October 2004. I just can't remember where I saw it. That's the trouble with getting old. I can still fly just fine, I just can't remember where the field is.

Mr Bennet left provisions so that the TOC would carry on after he was gone. Out of respect and the need to reorganize the event details the TOC has been put off a year . My understanding is that it will return in 2004. As Far as the event advertised on Oct 10 in concerned this is a day associated with a hobby and toy convention that has been in Las Vegas before.
As far as I'm concerned they are just using the name TOC to attract more interest in the convention.
I Live in Vegas and have attended many of the TOC events. This is not even close to the format that Mr Bennet intended.

Hey Guys,
I have called the Sahara Casino and they have said there will be no more TOC's. They did say they were sorry. I think if enough people call and show an interest they might reconsider (be polite). (800) 634-6078 promotions depts
