RE: Real Flight G4
I know the other poster seems to have an issue with the hardware you have to buy with G4, but this comes with it. This controller is better than the last one and I don't even have to use the keyboard because the menus are built right into the controller.
I love my use a DX7 and I don't have any massive issues using the G4 controller. This is a sim right? G4 and the previous versions allow you to plug in a controller and fly with it. I do and it works, and this way the G4 controller is just an interface and your box is in control if you set it up right in the menus. Even when I fly with the DX7 or another one of my radios, I am still flying a computer generated image of an aircraft and not the real thing.
The biggest struggle I face with the DX7 is not sim integration, it is attempting to fly in this wicked cold with even the thinnest of gloves. I feel more disconnected with my DX7 doing that, than stepping outside after using the G4 controller
You may be doing something very advanced that would necessitate only using one controller, I guess I am not there yet as a park flyer using 6 channels max on some of my birds.. The layout is a little different from the DX7 and you wanted to make sure you were always reaching for the right switch, and were using all 7 channels I guess you could go with the other suggestions from the other poster.
To give it a fair shot, best thing I would do is go to the LHS where they have it set up and use it. Bring in your DX7 and let them plug it in to the demonstrator G4 unit and then you will know if you would need to look at the others. My LHS was very good about that.
It sounds like the other poster has a lot of experience in the sims that don't need the proprietary controller used in G4, but this program is not killing my hard drive so I would have to push back on the bloatware statement.
Good luck
