A question in conjunction with this thread - on my HB King 2, the servo horns have 3 holes across the top, and 5 holes down the middle shaft. On my 3 swash servos, the link rods are connected to the center hole out of the 3 across the top of the horn. On my tail rotor servo, the linkage is connected to the third hole down the middle part of the horn. 1) Is this the correct set-up, and, 2) wouldn't connectong the tail rotor linkage to the center hole across the top give a little mor range of movement? Is there an adjustment that should be made here? Thanks, Ken
hi ken...the center hole on the swash servo arms should be fine...if for some reason, the servo output shaft splines can't give you level arms at idle1/50% collective, i suppose you could try one of the other holes to get all 3 links the same length (since the stock xmtr doesn't have fancy settings, like subtrim)...the esky servo is kinda wimpy in torque...you're right about using a longer throw to get more tail movement...the problem is running out of tail authority because of the weak servo (made worse if you have binding in the tail mechanism)...in fact some guys have better tail authority by shortening the servo arm, thus increasing the power of the servo...you just have to experiment...or get a good gyro and tail servo, and be done with it...fwiw, most guys try to get as much servo throw and control movement as possible, but you gotta make sure that you don't 'hit the stops', stall the servo, strip gears, etc....hope that helps...another ken...
