You can also use a 4-6 channel radio without the El-mod modules. If your TX has a mixing fuction (ex. V-Tail, flaperon), you can use that to control the two motors for steering. You can then use the other channels for turret rotation, gun elevation, cannon, and machine gun by using switches and/or converting regular servos to continuous rotation ones.
Very interesting indeed. I am also thinking this way, however, the output of those receiver is only a signal to servo, cannot control the motor to turn. First it is not DC output from the receiver to servo, and also the current is not enough to power a motor. Thinking use ESC (electronic speed controller) for brushed DC motor, but it need at least 4 to do that. If going to this direction, I would think about use corresponding ESC and brushless motors for power train.
