RE: DL-50 engine
OK fellas-- fired up my first DL50 today. Airframe is a GP Ultimate. Dollar for dollar I think it is one of the better deals around. Of course that is easy to say after one tank. Fuel draw was a problem to start as it took 15-20 flips to get a pop, then another 10 or so to get it running. When it started running-- boy did it run. Lawn Boy @ 40:1 and a Wild Hare 22/8 prop was at 6900 RPM after some running and tweaking the needles a bit. The low end was way-- way too rich-- high end was close. Keep in mind this was at 52 degrees (you could see your breath) and 1 hour after a thunderstorm. The air was damp, cold, and very heavy--and still got a max of 6900 on the first tank--idle was 1700, but it shook the airframe pretty bad. It should be noted that I only had the bottom wing attached.
Not bad for $400.
