when I was looking for a ~50cc engine, I just searched ebay and looked everything up in the size range on acresinternet.com and settled on a Pioneer 52cc engine with ball bearings that looks pretty good... it's old ('71), but looks like new inside, have $25 and time in it... to date I haven't spent more than $25 on a saw or weedie...
