I want to build an 80+'' warbird in the future and want to start planning for it now. I figure to need a 40 to 50cc engine. What saws out there meet my criteria?
Thanks
Jim

Echo 440
Poulan 42
Echo 610, I believe it the right number.
You may concider this engine.

For the price it's hard to beat.

when I was looking for a ~50cc engine, I just searched ebay and looked everything up in the size range on acresinternet.com and settled on a Pioneer 52cc engine with ball bearings that looks pretty good... it's old ('71), but looks like new inside, have $25 and time in it... to date I haven't spent more than $25 on a saw or weedie...

Hi Jim, The part # on the short blocks you are looking for in your size is: SB 1082 for the 45cc (2.75 ci) and SB 1080 for the 50.1cc (3.06ci). I would think the 50cc is the better choice since they are about the same weight.

I have done many 44 and 50cc Echos. The 44 is a little lighter and I think it is as good or better than the 50. Try www.sepw.com and type in the short block number you want. They are in South Wisconsin.
