which engine?
I just pulled my old aerostar .40 and my 50% complete cherokee .40 out of the attic. The aerostar has a YS .45FS on it, and I have a 6 Ch. Futaba to control it all. Now, until a couple of days ago, I hadn't touched any of this stuff in approximately 16 years!! Both of the airplanes seem to be in decent shape, and believe it or not, after 20 minutes or so on the charger-all of the radio equipment works. Of course the battery packs all need to be replaced, but this seems to be a simple and inexpensive task. My plan is to get the trainer in the air, dust off the cobwebs (meaning the ones on me!), and finish the cherokee. Basically all that is left on the cherokee is the wing and then covering everything. I want to then just swap the radio equipment and engine to the new plane and hang the poor old aerostar up for good. The problem is the engine situation. The old YS is locked up like two dogs in the front yard! I have tried everything I know to do and stripped everything off of the engine that I can t try to free it up. I think its scrapped, besides that I cant find new gaskets for it anyway. My question is: Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new engine, and if so, which one? Thanks in advance for any advice!
