yeah i have the venom fail safe and i run good old energizer rechargables i think they are 2500 but they seem to work just fine i also run the same ones in my radio. i do believe a battery back is the way to go i have often thought of getting one i hope this helps, but my system seems to work great so i do not want to mess with it.
