Have you a SD card that has been formatted by the 12FG? I suspect you are misssing this step, you must have it formatted actually on the transmitter or the programs will not download. After formatting it on the 12FG you run the routine on your computer to get the programs onto to card. Then when you go to the Tx to download it works seamlessly.
