Futaba Problem

Dave,
Thanks for the clarification. I thought that I read in one of the 12X ads something that led me to believe that the Model Mismatch indication was on the transmitter - which would require a link back to the TX from the RX. An incorrect assumption on my part...
Using that method, the Futaba TM-14 module and RX could do that as well. Perhaps we will see that down the road...
Likai,
The Futaba TM-14 module does not communicate with the TX in PPM mode. You can see that by not only the fact that you have 12 or 14 channels with the TM-14, but you also have settable failsafe on all channels and both of those require that the module communicate with the TX in some other mode than PPM. Its easy to see why the Spektrum module doesn't do that - the interface between the module and the TX on a Futaba radio is proprietary to Futaba, but of course Futaba can make a module that uses this method to communicate with the TX...

Likia,
Futaba 12Z and 14mz have 12 channel ppm available.
It was said months ago that the TM 14 is using the G3 2048 to interface with the radio but no where in the paperwork does it say what the resolution of the system is. I would have thought that this would have been listed.

I expect the Patent Spektrum refers to would be of the concept, not the specific execution.
Have Fun,

I just bought my Futaba 12FG about a weekago, I tried doing the down loading updates off of the Futaba & 2.4Ghz site. I've tried talking with the Radio Rep's at Futaba, but still was unable to get the updates to down load onto my 12FG.
I did make a copy of the "Updating the 12FG" but still getting no where.
Is there any one that could go through the proceedure step by step from beginning to end?
Thanks for all your help.

Have you a SD card that has been formatted by the 12FG? I suspect you are misssing this step, you must have it formatted actually on the transmitter or the programs will not download. After formatting it on the 12FG you run the routine on your computer to get the programs onto to card. Then when you go to the Tx to download it works seamlessly.

Yes, I have a 2 Gig SD Card that has been formated by the 12FG. I go through the prosess and follow the direction with the down load. When I go to down load the SD Card in the 12FG I get this reading" Update File not found" on the screen of the TX. I do have the switch over to the right and the Tx is off when I put the switch to the right.
I've checked the SD card file on my PC and it shows the update on there. My guess is that Im not getting the file unziped properly. So I was just wondering how everyone else does the down loading of the files. More or less looking for a step by step process. I printed a copy of the "Upsating The 12FG" and hhave been following it to the letter, but when I go to install the files into my TX, I keep getting "Update File Not Found."
Also those of you who have the PCM version and are swithing over to the 2.4 Ghz module, do you have to down load the 14Mz Update file on the web site before you switch the PCM 72 module to the 2.4Ghz Module systom??
Thanks for your help.

Hi
I suggest you look at the [link]http://www.ripmax.com/Software_Upgrades/T12FG_V1_2_070808/T12FG_SoftwareUpdating.pdf[/link]Ripmax instructions. These set out quite clearly how to do the software updating on the computer. You do not just move the files using file manager you have to run the routine to transfer them.

It's my understanding that the up date manages the trims when you switch over to 2.4. Before the update there was an issue with trims. You should have more than one file showing. The files are zipped... then you unzipp after downloaded and THEN you have to extract them. So instead of one large file you have several that all get copied over to your Tx via the CF Card.

Well I talked with Jon at Hobby Services and he walked me through the proceedure from beginning to end. After trying to load the files on the SD Card. it was found that the 12FG would not recogniae the card or the SD card was bad. I went and bought a new San Disc 1 gig card and started over. Everything went smooth and the information was properly loaded into the 12FG. Also you might want to print and copy JGWRIGHT down load proceedure. Those were the steps I followed.

After receiving my 12FG I thought it odd that the trainer /snap switch was on the right instead of the left. Once I read this thread, I called Futaba about it. They will cover cost of returning the Tx and they will move the switch to the left and return it. Thought some of you might like to know that Futaba is aware of the error and will correct it.
