Look at the open end of the carb. The hole facing you, not the one up against the engine. There should be a brass plate attached to a rod passing through the outside opening of the carb. One end of that rod should have a little lever tab. The round brass plate, rod, and lever are all part of the choke. Frequently one needs to be creative when hooking up choke linkage. Hopefully this engine is to too technologically advanced for it's current location.
