Umm this maybe a stupid question but for the life of me i cannot see a choke on my DA50. Does anyone have a pic of its location? the only arm i can see is the throttle.

Look at the open end of the carb. The hole facing you, not the one up against the engine. There should be a brass plate attached to a rod passing through the outside opening of the carb. One end of that rod should have a little lever tab. The round brass plate, rod, and lever are all part of the choke. Frequently one needs to be creative when hooking up choke linkage. Hopefully this engine is to too technologically advanced for it's current location.

Oh yes - of course - good ole Aussie ingenuity - Now then were the following invented?
The Stump Jump Plough, The combine harvester, The UTE (Americans call it a "Pickup truck"), Dynamic Lifter, The Box kite, The wave peircing Catamaran, Ship Degaussing, The Black box flight recorder, Differential gears, Inflatable escape slides and rafts, Electric Drills, Hills hoists, Rotary mowers, Latex gloves, Aspirin, Telephanes (the spelling is correct - it is the predecessor of the television), Roller doors, Blast glass, Mechanical Refrigeration, Prepaid postage, The scramjet engine, Kiwi shoe polish, the technology behind Xerography, The electronic pacemaker, cochlear implants, Tilt pad thrust bearings, Feature films, Begg orthodontics, Freestyle swimming, Race cam, Zip instant water boilers, dual flush toilets, the winged Keel - AND the most important - Vegemite and the Wine Cask. - Just to name a few.

Actually - back to the original subject - I had a DA50 once that didn't have a choke. It was the first one I owned and I bought it used. It was a bit of a problem to get started for the first start of the day, I ended up retrofitting a carb with a choke.

It's OK - I was only joking too.
Mine was a royal PITA to start - that's why I ended up changing the carb.
I'm not sure the carby on mine was the original - it was a well used engine when I bought it. Before I changed the carb, I used a modified motorbike starter motor as a starter just to get it running.
I have no idea about Jarrahs engine whether it is new or not - maybe he will chime in and let us know. I also find it hard to believe that DA would ship an engine without a choke.
Of course we aussies also never mention that we invented bolt cutters (I guess to cut the chains off our legs at the first available opportunity) and a senior engineer on the "Edsel Project" was also an aussie (Yes - the well known project by Ford).

Jarrah,
You asked for a picture, so here it is. This is a new DA50 mounted on a Sig Sundancer with a Jtec Pitts muffler. The choke is the small silver lever on the right. I attached a short pushrod that is guided through an aluminum cowl baffle plate. I can reach through the cowl opening in front to manually choke the engine. (not while running, of course)
