My vote goes to civilian type aircraft, simply because I like the way they look. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to build or fly one yet (besides the real thing). I will someday have a mini-hanger of Cessna 310's, 172's, Beech Barons, all the Pipers, etc. that I will build when I get a bit more building experience and a fatter wallet!

As for crashing, I have crashed 2 planes within the last 2 years, one flying again and the other is almost ready to fly again.
