I am just carious on what type of planes people on here enjoy the most.. what makes them want to (most many even you experts every once in while) buy with many $$$$-or especially build with how many hours if started from scratch just to --- crash---> then if possible rebuild or build another just to do it all over again..

Your mistake is making the assumption that we crash all of our airplanes. That is simply not true.
Yes we do crash from time to time but most of our airplanes will never suffer a crash. Many get traded away or retired somewhere in the back of the garage.
I have heard it said that all RC airplanes have an expiration date. I don't buy into that. If real airplanes were given the same mentality then man wouldn't bother to fly at all.

.there is alot of members of our club that fly the same plane for years and grease every landing like they were in the cockpit.
the plane I prefer is the one I am flying at the time.

I'll have to agree with Missileman. I have retired an airframe only once, and that was after numerous major structural repairs that rendered it unairworthy.

I like the WW II planes the most, with the bombers coming in first then the fighters. Second I haft to say WW I, Once I get my skill up I will explore the bipes then I might dabble with a glider. We have a couple nice places to do a glider that i want to try out.

other than bending landing gear and the dings that come along with that, most of the problems I have had with repairing was due to transporting or my cat chewing on a wing here and there, minor covering repairs, I have only had 2 airplanes destroyed, one was I got rear ended by a van while my plane was in the back of my truck, the other was letting my brother use one of my airplanes he crashed on takeoff, and that was repairable. I still have some of the old u control planes I built 30 some odd years ago. I would say my favorite type plane would be a sport plane.they normally take from 40 to 70 hours to build.i have built many ww2 type planes from kits for friends they take longer.

That said, I didn't push the envelope too far when flying full-scale due to not wanting to die. I did fly full-scale competition aerobatics but I did that with an appropriate plane and intense training.

WWII warbirds (fighters) for me.
As for crashing, I've had my share. I haven't crashed them all, and the one's I build from kits are not flown as much as the arfs.

I dunno about this crash stuff..
I've only dumped two aircraft since I've been flying RC. Yeah, longer than a year..
. I destroyed my Skylark 56 by flying it in conditions that I was not prepared to fly it in... the wind was way beyond my capabilities yet I flew anyway. Results.. crashed Skylark 56. Destroyed Skylark 56.
The next one was several years later when I was flying my Venus 40 intro-to-pattern plane. It was my third or forth flight of the day and on taking off, a gust of wind yaw'ed it to the right so on take off, I was about three feet off the ground and at full throttle and had just pulled a little elevator to gain altitude. When it yaw'ed, I thought LEFT RUDDER and did LEFT AILERON.. and since I was at full throttle and had pulled a little elevator, and was only a few feet up.. well, that plane too made it to the trash can. Those are the only two crashed I've had that destroyed the plane.
I've had a few other minor problems that were either fixed at the field or waited till I got home and fixed, simple things like a broken nose wheel mount, or a tail wheel that got hit by a bird.. [X(]
But to answer your original question.. I choose what catches my fancy at the moment. Usually sport planes, though.

I kind of felt like that last year, I put three airplanes in, and rather dramatically I might add

My vote goes to civilian type aircraft, simply because I like the way they look. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to build or fly one yet (besides the real thing). I will someday have a mini-hanger of Cessna 310's, 172's, Beech Barons, all the Pipers, etc. that I will build when I get a bit more building experience and a fatter wallet!
As for crashing, I have crashed 2 planes within the last 2 years, one flying again and the other is almost ready to fly again.
