Maybe this prototype picture will help explain. You can see why Dub changed to the new design.

Quite a few use a filter or joiner in-line between the fuel tank and shutoff. That way we can leave the pinch-off closed, fuel, and it wont leak afterward.

Others wanted access to the port - disconnect fueling.

So they have a choice here.
Capiche , I forgot about the need for shutoffs on QM's. I knew real estate was scarce though. Thanks Bob.
