Yes, you may be right about leaving some files behind; I did a very careful delete of everything related to AFPD and IPACS I could find in the usual places and the registry before the InstallShield delete and rebuild. And, the add-on 2

Starflight did not seem to be affected by the problem, which still puzzles me.

If rajul's (Mike's) info works, all the better; I'm pretty sure that since the error message is the same as the one I received, it strongly suggests that the problem is in the same ballpark; those pesky install apps. And although I'm not

finding info about that error message on the Web as easily it seems I did the other day, there were many references to the problem and most referenced corruption of the install files as the culprit.

In any case best of luck as AFPD is a gem in many ways.
