RE: esc question
I assume you stock Esky brusless motor like the 3800 or 3900
Color means nothing to the motor. it wont hurt it if you hook it up backwords but it could damage the clutch or main gear soooo!
1 remove the motor (only to prevent damage to the main gear/clutch)
2 hook up all three wires any order first time
3 turn on your transmitter
4 hook up your battery
5 give the motor a little power JUST A LITTLE just for a second (Be careful if your motor is a purple Esky its a outrunner that means the OUTSIDE rotates at about 30,000 rpm). .....hold it by the wires.
6 if it turns the correct direction fine
7 if it turns the wrong way switch any two wires
8 mark the wires with heat shrink so you know which way is "correct rotation"
Done!
BTW when you set up your new Esc be sure you set it with brake off and super soft start for helos, some aircraft Esc dont have a soft or a super soft start, also a good Esc will have a mode to adjust timing for brushless motors and Esky brushless motors are middle timing (set it at low and they shake) set it too high and they lose power
Hope this helps.
I run a 3900 Esky in a King ll with a 10 tooth pinion and a RC-Exceed 30 amp Esc with no problem. Esc barely gets warm after 13 min hovering. Super Soft start is so slow that I can actually creep the blades around at a low throttle setting.
