It sounds like your esc is hitting a low cell cutoff and going into a lower power mode, which warns the flyer to land so as not to toast the lipo. Some ESC's allow you to reset the low cell cutoff simply by landing, setting the throttle back to zero and then going back up again. Did you look at your cell votages after the initial power loss ever? It really does sound like the ESC.

well i did check the battery when i got back in the house, and it was at 11 volts, but that was after 5 more mins of flying. i did land it and just feel of the esc after it did that, and then went back up, but it still didn't sound like it did in the first 5 mins.

You have to check each individual cell on the balance connector. If your pack is way out of balance you may have a low cell... Did you say you experience this with different batteries? If so, my vote goes to your ESC as the culprit, unless you have motor mounting bolts that are so long they contact the stator/rotor ( whichever it is) as found by others.

That's covered in another thread on this site, but if they are too long, they will be rubbing on the rotor/stator whatever it is called on a outrunner.

shine a flashlight in the motor where the bolts are and rotate the motor. You will see if they stick up far enough to touch the moving part.
