RE: Simulator
RealFlight continues to produce new versions and Flight Packs. They also have free downloadable planes on their website. It's worth considering the retail health of an application for the long term. And nothing demonstrates health better than a steady stream of products.
As for best for learning, they're both excellent. They both can be adjusted to get realworld wind effects, and the individual models can be adjusted for feel. Beyond those primary considerations, it'll come down to availability and price. They're about the same there too.
