I have been deciding on a first 50cc plane and want to get a wild hare extra 300. People have told me that there is a big difference between extreme flight and wild hare and i just want a 3D plane. So, what it is?
I have not had an opportunity to evaluate an EF Extra personally, so I can only tell you what I see in the specs. The EF plane is a little larger, the fuse is a lot longer at 87", this dimension if accurate makes it way out of proportion from actual scale. The full scale Extra 300 fuselage to wing ratio is approximately .88 to 1, the EF plane is almost 1 to 1. The Wild Hare Extra's wing area is almost as great in spite of having a shorter span.
Their price is $649.95, ours is $429. Based on the size and published specs I'd expect the EF Extra to be heavier, consider this when buying an engine. I see no need for a larger plane with a 50cc engine, ours flies great and the light weight is perfect for a DA-50.
Beyond these details I don't see a big difference in the planes.
Oh, and we have some blue/yellow/white planes at $379 too.
I have wondered why there is so much traffic in the giant scale aerobatic RCU forum on EF. I can't find an EF support forum, I suppose that all their posts must go in the general column.
Finally it appears that EF is very much into electric planes and accessories, I feel that with giant scale it requires all my time to properly support the products so I have not branched out into other fields.
