If you want a pretty plane that LOOKS like a plane the Kyosho Calamato is wonerful... great flyer, 40 sized so your trainer motor will fit and 2 versions available a low wing(SPORT) or a high wing . No flaps but in this size bird flaps are rarely used (just not needed

) Do a RCU search and you'll find out it is the plane that most people are raving about in this size/style, and the latest release has no covering problems. If you are dead set to have flaps, the best choice IMHO is the ULTRASTICK 40. Very aerobatic but on low rates is a very gentle, stable flyer. It comes with both full length airlons and the quad/flap setup. I built it with flaps but rarely used them, it also adds the weight/expence of 2 more servos, but the plane is not hurt by the weight... I just think that in general, lighter is better because you land a little faster and verticals are a little slower with weight. SO if you want a great step up from a trainer, the Calamto Sport is the way to go and is the fastest build of any arf I've ever tried. The US40 is a great plane to play with spoilers, flaps, crowing, etc with if your radio supports a lot of functions. The Goldberg Tiger II is the 40 sized version of the Tiger series, and they are great looking and very good flyers, but I don't think the 40 or 60 size have flaps.
Hope this helps.
