Default Radio Range
Test the range with the ECU battery plugged in and then again with the battery unplugged. You want about 10% range reduction at most.

Also, check that the black data cables are as short as possible. I shorten mine I have the special crimping tool, DO NOT try to buy phone cable from Radio Shack, you will damage the ECU.
