Tried all the above but the stuff that really worked for me was Ironex which is used for cleaning the residue of your irons. If it works for that, it will work on your plane. I used it to strip off the residue adhesive from my Cap 21 when I refinished it. It worked great. If you look at the ingredients , you'll notice it contains Xylol (Xylene), so I bought a can of Xylol at the hardware store and tried that. Worked just as well if not better and it was much cheaper too. Just do it in a well ventilated area.
