Thanks for the input thus far. I also have a little "squeeze" bottle of the red AMPS out drive oil. I just didn't want to use it up....and never know what to replace it with!

I also have the original owners manual that you mention....I'll try and get that scanned also (it'll be a race to see who gets them scanned first)

Lastly that is a very good point about directing the water stream onto the plastic / nylon u-joint. I had also been advised from another source that was a problem area on these drives.
