I'd rather go over missing glue joints than find puddles of excess adhesives all over my plane anyday... plus the manual calls for going over the motor box glue joints anyway.

If your hobby shop owner recommended the use of a park 480 motor in this plane he's got to be some kind of a morron... And you modified the mount to accept that inadequate motor?
