is my Gst 7.7 really this slow?
Hey guys,
I have recently pruchased a GST 7,7, and it seams very slow and sluggish. Witth the diffs locked, 25% Odonnel race nitro, and LC-3 glow plaugs (recemendation of LHS) I cannot even get it to do one wheelie. when I go to lean out the top end, it then starts to stumple and cuts out, likes it is runnign lean, so I turn it back and it returns to driveability. 2nd gear coems in aroound 15 feet, and is 2,5 turns out. 3rd gear is 8.5 turns out and never comes on, but this woudl be expected if engine is not runnign optimally.
So I have basically read this forum over a few times, and cannot figure out what is wrong. the only thing I notice is that my idle screw setting results in much larger an openign than 1mm, perhaps 3. but when I lower it, it will not hold the idle. the idle is curenlty a bit loopy.
My brother suggested, turnign idle way down, even if it won't hold and then lean out overall needle and go from there.
any ideas??? shouldn't this thing be pullign wheelies all kinds? the top speed is about same as a savage, but seems liek it never gets into third.
coudl it be the idle setting? culd it be that glow plug, should I try os 8? ( mention that becasue if I run WOT for say 5 passes, it starts to loose power, poerhpas glow plug is to hot).I hear people tralk about exhaust leaks, can't see how this woudl cause porblem, but I did notice my seal is a bit torn, however, it does not seem to leak at all.
thanks in advance for all the help!! other than that, and small collision tonight, very happy with the truck and its size and rigidity.
