Tower Hobbies Ultimate combos usually come with other stuff, such as glue, fuel tubing and what not, when you build your owne combo these extras are not included. I would recommend getting a RTF(ready to fly) trainer, such as the Hangar 9 Alpha trainer available from
www.horizonhobby.com, or what I started with, the Hobbico Avistar RTF. The Avistar is a little more difficult to land(read lands a little faster), but a great plane. The other trainer that I saw on Tower's site that looks good is the Hobbico Hobbistar. Although this isn't a RTF, it is an ARF(Almost ready to fly) plane. So after a weekend of construction you should have a plane ready to go. What I like about the Hobbistar is the size. It is a bigger plane, and bigger planes are usually easier to fly than a small plane. Things happen slower with a bigger plane. Plus it also has a semi-symetrical wing, which means it will be a little more aerobatic than a plane like the Superstar, or Alpha trainer.
Ok enough rambling, any of these planes should be good, JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT TRY TO FLY IT YOURSELF THE FIRST TIME OUT!!! Find a local club, and get on a buddy box with an experienced pilot. You will save yourself much heartache and disapointment. Plus the experienced guy will be able to check the airworthiness of your plane before you send it up.
Good Luck, and welcome to the Hobby!!!
