Default Help Trainer Needed!!!

OK I am about to purchase a trainer from towerhobby.com but, i need some advise....

ok i am torn between 3 planes..... hobbico superstar select, tower trainer, and great planes PT-40 ...... If someone with experience could help me make the correct purchase it would be helpful..... i was wondering about the ultimate combos they offer... is this a good value or should i just click the thing that says build your own combo? then buy the accessories it says are needed? are the ulitmate combos worth it i guess im asking....
i think one time i got the hobbico and 46la with futaba and the accessories to like $309 ... thats cheaper than the ultimate combo... is that correct or am i missing something? please help guys im sure you have more experience with towerhobbys than i do

thanks,

Shawn

Tower Hobbies Ultimate combos usually come with other stuff, such as glue, fuel tubing and what not, when you build your owne combo these extras are not included. I would recommend getting a RTF(ready to fly) trainer, such as the Hangar 9 Alpha trainer available from www.horizonhobby.com, or what I started with, the Hobbico Avistar RTF. The Avistar is a little more difficult to land(read lands a little faster), but a great plane. The other trainer that I saw on Tower's site that looks good is the Hobbico Hobbistar. Although this isn't a RTF, it is an ARF(Almost ready to fly) plane. So after a weekend of construction you should have a plane ready to go. What I like about the Hobbistar is the size. It is a bigger plane, and bigger planes are usually easier to fly than a small plane. Things happen slower with a bigger plane. Plus it also has a semi-symetrical wing, which means it will be a little more aerobatic than a plane like the Superstar, or Alpha trainer.

Ok enough rambling, any of these planes should be good, JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT TRY TO FLY IT YOURSELF THE FIRST TIME OUT!!! Find a local club, and get on a buddy box with an experienced pilot. You will save yourself much heartache and disapointment. Plus the experienced guy will be able to check the airworthiness of your plane before you send it up.

Good Luck, and welcome to the Hobby!!!

All the models mention are excellent trainers and will give you the best opportunity to learn to fly Radio Controlled aircraft. Now all that is left is to decide what to get for the bucks. Tower offers several excellent packages for anyone wishing to get into the hobby. I personally Avistar and with the combo package feel that it offers the best bang for your bucks. It does have a simi-symetrical wing that will allow you to explore aerobatics yet will land comfortably allowing you to learn the techniques with out causing undue stress.

Be sure to contact an instructor that will give you the most training possible.
