Yes I whole heartedly agree. Key words being the membership.
I guess my biggest gripe which I think you will see quite evident in all my post is the detachment of the membership and the bureaucrats, which has existed back as far as I can remember. (now granted Im not as old as the woodwork like some of the ole timers

Which in my opinion still exists to this day.
To make my point which I don't really think I have to on these forums due to the fact that I may be singing to the choir, all anyone has to do is read through some of the other threads on the AMA Discussion group here.
While your not going to satisfy everyone all the time. I think more things could and should be done to involve the membership more. Make them feel they are more than someone who sends a check every year and gets a magazine and some insurance.
I would be more than willing to help in this effort as just another AMA member. In my opinion there should be a open to members discussion mailing list hosted by the AMA with different sublists to discuss the different aspects of the AMA. I don't know if they already have closed discussion lists for district reps and others.
There should be a portion of the website with contacts to various government representatives for their local districts and what the AMA would like to see the membership do as far as contacting them in a per member standpoint.
This is the computer age this type of communication is very easy.
All the other organizations I belong to already have had such items in place for a long period of time now. Why is the AMA lagging behind so much. Is there a fear of hearing what the general membership has to say and making it very easy to voice their opinions on different subjects. Is there not the technical support within the AMA to put such things in place
