Default RE: Eagle50

Crambell,
I had a similar situation. I thought it was a receiver when it turned out to be a main motor. Even when I got a replacement it didn't work. It turns out it was DOA. If you got pitch and roll response I would suspect the main motor. Put a voltmeter on the terminals and check it out. Unplug the tail motor first though, then check the pitch and roll response. If they are working and the voltmeter goes from zero to 10 or 11 volts, then its the motor.
And FYI, the outrunner motor that I installed is working great. With its integral fan it does not overheat. Granted it is probably a little bigger than needed, but with a 8 tooth pinion gear it seems to work fine. The only thing is that with the battery location being what it is, you have to be careful that it doesn't touch the motor since the outer shell on a outrunner spins. I have flown it for a complete battery and the main motor is only warm to the touch, whereas the tail motor, even with a heat sink is almost too hot to touch. The next thing I'm going to try is the direct drive tail rotor. It uses a smaller prop pressed directly to the motor shaft. The reviews I read are favorable to this mod and it appears the motor is a little more robust.
In regards to the head parts I got from cnchelicopter.com,the owner, whose name is Jeff appears to be very helpful in fixing the problem. I have sent him back the defective parts and we will see what happens. More to come.
Anyway Crambell, good luck and keep flying. By the way, I just kicked off the training wheels on my eagle and so far so good.
