Oh, and by the way, I wouldn't go with a HPI SS, for the same price you can get a Fantom, which is MUCH better. How much are SS, I believe they are about $120. For $110, you can get a '02 Fantom. Oh, and don't get that exhaust, unless you want the looks.
I rather doubt he was talking about buying the SS engine, its far safer to assume that he meant the kit.
As far as tuned pipes, I agree, the pipe that comes in the SS kit is crap. I have no idea how other pipes perform on the car, but I run the Paris TurboRing and it made a big big difference in overall performance. With the paris pipe you have to drill your own hole for the pressure fitting, so putting it on the right hand side of the car isn't a big deal. You can either shove a piece of fuel tubing into the newly drilled hole, or you can JB Weld a pressure fitting in, its up to you. There is also a mounting brace welded to the pipe, but if you need to move that, all you have to do it grab it with a pair of pliers and twist it off, mine came off quite easily. Then JB Weld it to whatever part of the pipe you want to mount.
As far as JB Welding, I would strongly reccomend using JB WELD not JB QUICK. JB Quick has about half the heat tolerance of JB Weld, and JB Weld only takes 15 or so hours to cure, so if you do it early in the day, it will be ready to go by the next morning.
