Can anyone tell me if EXCEED R/C is a good brand? I am new to the r/c world and dont know much about it. There cars are cheap but didnt know if they were good quality. Thanks!!
Exceed RC is not intended as a mainstream RC, Exceed, Himoto, and Redcat (all three of these RCs are HSP cars and trucks) target themselves to beginners. Ask any reseller of HSP stuff (Exceed, Redcat, & Himoto), and all three of these resellers will tell you they are selling these RCs as beginner vehicles. For the most part, since all three of tehse companies are HSP resellers, al of their parts are interchangeable (or almost 100% interchangeable).
(Exception: Himoto now has the MegaP RCs; these might not be interchangable with HSP parts or parts form teh other resellers such as Exceed and Redcat.)
The problem with any HSP reseller is that none of the local RC stores carry any of the HSP parts, cars, and trucks (with an exception of one store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas). So, the only way to obtain replacement parts is to order the HSP parts on-line from the reseller (Exceed, Himoto, & Redcat). This can cause you to wait a few days up to a week to obtain a replacement part and screws which in turn could lay up your RC for that amount of time.
If you want a beginner RC, I would suggest to you Associated and Tamiya. Both of these companies make RCs that are about $250 or cheaper and parts support for them at the local RC store. Yes, these RCs might be anywhere from $10 to $50 more than one from the HSP resellers, but the parts availability, known quality, and even the wide array of available optional hop-ups make them the better value.
