it isn't a good quality car to start out with. It might take you out of the hobby you could soo fusterated. Look into Traxxas HPI, Losi, and associated.

Kurios, rather than listening to bashing, why don't you check out the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_472/tt.htm]Exceed RC Support - Nitro Cars [/link] forum and decide for yourself.

meh
Problem? Or did you decide against bashing my anti-bashing statement?

I do understand that if you have a bad experience with a product you are inclined to look out for someone else's interests, but to just proclaim an entire brand 'garbage' is a bit short. You're allowed to feel any way you wish, but it is more helpful to point out why you decide to give such advice.

Thanks!

no, I was contemplating my word choice until I realized that Chris_RC pretty much summed up what I wanted to say.

I mean, if you look in the exeed forum, half the people that have them will say they are junk, and the rest will say they are awesome because its the only rc they ever had.

Exceed RC is not intended as a mainstream RC, Exceed, Himoto, and Redcat (all three of these RCs are HSP cars and trucks) target themselves to beginners. Ask any reseller of HSP stuff (Exceed, Redcat, & Himoto), and all three of these resellers will tell you they are selling these RCs as beginner vehicles. For the most part, since all three of tehse companies are HSP resellers, al of their parts are interchangeable (or almost 100% interchangeable).
(Exception: Himoto now has the MegaP RCs; these might not be interchangable with HSP parts or parts form teh other resellers such as Exceed and Redcat.)

The problem with any HSP reseller is that none of the local RC stores carry any of the HSP parts, cars, and trucks (with an exception of one store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas). So, the only way to obtain replacement parts is to order the HSP parts on-line from the reseller (Exceed, Himoto, & Redcat). This can cause you to wait a few days up to a week to obtain a replacement part and screws which in turn could lay up your RC for that amount of time.

If you want a beginner RC, I would suggest to you Associated and Tamiya. Both of these companies make RCs that are about $250 or cheaper and parts support for them at the local RC store. Yes, these RCs might be anywhere from $10 to $50 more than one from the HSP resellers, but the parts availability, known quality, and even the wide array of available optional hop-ups make them the better value.

Likewise, I'd suggest another brand like Tamiya or HPI. You're going to get far better quality in every aspect(customer service, product quality, etc.).

hi guys i got one of the himoto trucks the mxt 2-s 1/8th truck and i think it's a very well built truck. and yes most of the hsp rc's are aimed at entry level the quality is there for the mega p series. i also have a 1/10 truck from hsp as well and i have absolutely good to say about it. as far as far as bashability goes the mxt is great for it and its actually a pretty tough truck. i dont wanna start a bashing contest or anything like that but i'm just throwin my 2 cents in here. i dont have any of the big name rc's yet so i cant do any comparisons.

Yes, I do. I think that a lot of people would love them too if given the chance to try them. I especially like that they rerelease some of their classic cars from the 80's

I almost took the plunge in getting an exceed single speed for 120 dollars, which is cheap, however after reading the forums more I realized that parts/maintainance would probably cost me a lot more in the long run. I'm still looking though.

I used to make static modols; ships, airplanes, whatever, and Tamiya was my choic of kits to build. I knew they also made RCs, but I did not know that they were that big into the RC scene until rcently. Many of the old school RC fans had a Tamiya as tier very first RC, and honstly, I myself am quite cuious and want to gt on for myself to see how it would compare to a top grade RC like a Mugen or XRay or Serpent.

Something I am happy to see is Tamiya actually making beginner RTRs for around the $200 mark (very affordabl indeed, not as cheap as th chinese clones and rip-offs, but still affordable and moderate to good quality beginner RCs).

If you can save up to bu a Firestom, I highly recommend you do. HPI parts, replacement spaers, and optional hop-up as well as many aftermarket options are caied by virtually every local RC store. For example, you can just about walk into any HobbyTown USA and find all the HPI screws, bolts, and replacements you need. Additionally, Hobbytown USA also caries a ton of optional aftermarket parts for most HPI products.
