Default RE: DL-50 engine

ORIGINAL: Super08

Finally got to do my maiden flight today with my DL mounted in a GP Wagstaff 300. I had run almost a gallon of fuel through it 2 months ago on the ground and tuned the engine. Afterwards I had run it dry and set it aside until I had time to finish the plane and felt confident enough to fly it. I could not get it to prime at first so I pulled the cowl off and put a small squirt of fuel into the carb. Then it picked up prime and took off. Put the cowl back on and it ran like a champ all day. One of the other guys with a DL remarked that mine runs smoother than his with next to no burble in the mid range and wanted to know how I tuned it. It's my first gasser and I found it too hard to try and tune by shutting it off to turn the needles so I did it with the engine running and the cowl off just like I do with nitro powered. I guess it did the trick as it purrs like a kitten. Can't wait to see what it is like once it is broken in 'cause it pulls my 17lb model around now like there's no tomorrow. Here is a couple of pics of our planes with the DL's

Super08,
How did you attach to the firewall. I have the same plane and installing the DL50 as we speak, cant wait to fly her. How does she land?
