RE: Stuck high in a tree now what?
I was flying a free flight at the University sod farm. It got into a high tree right about dark, I came back the next morning about 6 AM, Threw a line over the limb and tried to shake it loose. No success. Went up to physical plant and borrowed a long ladder, gone maybe 20 minutes. Came back and the airplane was gone. Couple of weeks later a guy showed up at my house. Said he knew who had my airplane and would get it back for me. He did so and I was most appreciative. I have no idea how the people who had it got it down.
My son won Senior C FF at the 1980 Nats in Dayton. Swapped engine and flew in B. On the third flight the timer failed and the airplane disappeared into the clouds. A year later I got a card saying they had my airplane. It had landed in a tree, spent the winter in the tree, and finally blew down. The engine, a Fox 25, all castor fuel, was fine, and the airplane had minor damage.
