Paul- the CCPM change involves replacing the swash and frames. It's a pretty significant change to the heli so it's essentially taking the heli apart, reassembling it with the new parts, and then retuning the transmitter and head setup. You should make sure your radio has CCPM programming available by the way; the recent Futabas do, but if it's an older one it may not.
On the plus side, the conversion from mechanical to CCPM gets rid of a lot of weight and complexity, so I think it's a worthwhile thing, and if you've never taken a heli apart the experience will be good for you.
