I'd recommend AGAINST the Super Cub if you want to fly it in the backyard. There's no way you'll keep it in a small area. The SC is slow, predictable, and gentle, but it needs a field. Trust me, I tried to fly in my front yard with my Super Cub.... Landing was the problem.
If you're going to have a prayer of keeping it in a 1-1.5acre space you'll need to get a GWS slow stick or similar. Those are so incredibly slow I don't see how it flies! A buddy handed one to me and I wanted one immediately. It's not indistructable, no...... but it'll do. and parts are cheap. Heck, the whole plane cost like $50. The Slo-v is pretty much the same thing............ the sticks aren't really for going fast and doing 3D.. They are emmmmm' SLOW!
The problem is not taking off and flying, you gotta get it back down, and for that you need space.
