Default RE: What is this engine?

Well, Im gonna convert it this week. I hope the rotation will be correct, the flywheel has no fins on it, and there is no little arrow or any indication of which way the engine turned. It will be a waste of time if it turns clockwise. It does have strong compression , and the bearing feels tight, so that part is good. I cut the big flange around the block off last nite and I am letting the whole engine sit in a vat of carb cleaner right now. No machining required on the flywheel, but the engine mount plate will be a job since I will have to cut a nicely shaped hole to allow for the carburetor in the middle. The prop hub should be easy enough, the flywheel threads appear to be 5/16x24pretty standard on most US made trimmer engines.

I've got a nice Mig welder, not very good at, but I'll stick A pipe on the stock muffler and hit it with the Barbeque black spray paint.
