RE: Hangar9 P51 PTS trainer
I'm currently learning on the PTS Mustang. If you can fly it well on the sim, it's not a difficult transition. I have not noticed a lack of power with it, as most people have. If you're experienced with nitro engines, or have an instructor that will help you tune it, you can use a pair of pliers to remove the limiting pins from the high and low speed needles and tune it for better performance. I was able to perform a nice loop with it without much of an altitude loss before the loop. It was configured flaps up (I'm using a flap servo) with the rest of the training aids in place. For basic patterns and approaches, it flies better in that configuration, with the exception of flaps down. Being a noob, I have had several rough landings and the landing gear have held up well. I've only had to repair the block inside the wing once, and that was after a very rough deadstick when the right main gear was pushed back. I'm loving it, and I would expect many other noobies will to.
