I try to use coreless digitals, because of the repeatable accuracy. Some like metal gears better than nylon, some don't, but I've found the thing I want the most is accurate precision, so I use a good high speed with digital and coreless technology. If I had some spare bucks for throttles right now, I'd go with the new Hitec 7985's. What I have currently is the 5625, and they aren't coreless, and you can tell on the speed. I think throttle is a lot of "personal preference".
Bob,
I couldn't justify the 7985 for a throttle servo with the way I fly. I had some 5645's that didn't center very well, so how would that impact a throttle servo where the end position is what I'd like to see repeatable? As I understand it, the 5625 and 5645 are the same except for gearing. I've got 5985's on my Ultimate that I'm tempted to try on the throttle to see what the difference would be between the cheapy S3004 and a good digital servo.

Guaranteed you would see improvement using the 5985, ain't no doubt about it. On rapid changes, my 5625's undershoot (or overshoot) the stick position very slightly, and very inconsistently. Not always the same amount, seems to depend on things that I just haven't taken the time to find out. When I put a "tighter" coreless servo in there, they became much more consistent. I don't know enought to say with any certainty what the differences are in the servos themselves, but the 5985's are far more accurate in stopping precisely where you stop the stick. 5625 not so much.
