You don't need an inner barrel the same lengh as the outer. You do have to bore out the inner lip by the muzzle brake. If your airsoft unit fires hard enough then the bb won't touch the outer barrel. You will have to secure the inner barrel to your airsoft unit. I just put a small screw on the top of my gun's airsoft unit to secure the barrel.
