It depends on which type you have. Some are installed in the fuel feed line and backflush into the fuel tank. I have one hooked up to the fuel tank third line which puts fuel into and out of the bottom front of the tank, that way my fuel main line only has a filter. The valve I have is a Robart flip up and I have one line blocked on it.
