A 14.5 lbs. air plane will be some serious over kill? There comes point where descresion is the better part of valor. Are you sure the airframe can handle that much power? Judicious use of the right thumb might be logical choice for flying that plane.

I have flown many over powered airlanes, some were not at all fun to fly, point of fact, a GP Christen Eagle with a 52 cc engine is way over kill.

But you do what you feel comfortable with, more power to ya'.
