Default RE: Weight bags

Before you guys no nuts over the steel shot bags, remember that in a humid environment, steel rust. The cloth bags will make fine sifters to sprinkle the rust over your project.

If you want a good, heavy, non oxidizing weight for bags, check into Course Silicon Carbide. It is nearly as heavy as steel, but it won't rust. It is very sharp and aprasive, so the covering needs to be able to handle it. Anything below 200 grit is going penetrate any woven bag, Some of the ceramic tumbeling media is also an option. Jewelers Stainless Steel tumbling shot is another good choice, but it can get expensive and it is very course compaired to beach sand.. Plane old lead bird shot is probably your best value and it won't leave tracks on your project. If you can find it, Garnet sand would be next on my list. Actually first as there are no health issues with garnet that I know of.

There are a lot of fine grain, heave Specific gravity items you can use. Some are abrasive, some are toxic, and some spoil over time. In the end, use what you can get your hands on[8D]
