Hey man, I feel your pain because your story was my story before I decided to cut my losses and save for two better buggies; a Losi8 and a RC8. I'm not going to hate on Redcat because they enable a lot of folks to experience RC racing that have tight budgets. I learned a lot about fixing my own car when I owned a Hurricane, but I grew frustrated when I had to order then wait and wait and wait for parts. The problem is they just don't seem to hold up very well on average, parts have to be ordered, and sometimes it takes a while to get those parts. However, my buddy and fellow RC U member swears by them and has had great luck with them. I didn't.
