Default redcat buggies

Let me start off by stating, I am an avid rc'er and have been for 10 plus years. I have been involved in many types of motorsports for 25 plus years. That being said, I have never dealt with anything more frustrating than a redcat racing product. Problem after problem and in one instance it has been at least 2 months waiting on parts from redcat that are already paid for. I have losi and traxxas and mugen cars and have nowhere near, not even close to the problems I have with this redcat stuff. I know it is a less expensive rtr, but come on, by now I could have taken all the cost in parts, cars, and time, and built another losi. I did find the fix for most of redcats problems..... my claw hammer. IT WORKED GREAT!!!! AND FELT SO GOOD!!!! LOL!! Let me know if anyone wants to see pics, I will post some. I have come to the conclusion that friends should not let friends drive redcats. By the way, Mike from redcat, if you read this, you can take that servo you owe me and shove it. Sorry for the bad spelling and punctuation. LOL.

LOL! I would like to see too. I unfortunately cannot say anything bad about redcat though. I had a Monsoon and Hurricane I loved them and took a beating for me with no problems.

My neighbor has a redcat. He spends more time repairing it than he does running it. All though I'm glad he bought it it's what got me hooked.

Aside from, for the same price, you could have an XTM XT2. the first generation XTM X-terminator was a 100% better car than the Himoto/Redcat 1/8s.

Not all together true. The new himoto and team VTX race rollers are real nice.

Yes, but those cost significantly more than the more pedestrian offerings. You knew what I was talking about anyway:P

The RXB-1 buggy and RXT-1 truggy are actually pretty nice considering there price and the same as the VTX or GS racing buggy and truggy which are not that old.

well a himoto rxb-1 can be had for a approx $40 more then a himoto torpeda or redcat hurricane...very nice buggy...pbs, hinge pin, go.21 or sh.21 engine...you can upgrade the center drives and rear drives to cv for $60.. there is also billet aluim and carbon fiber upgrades available....rtr buggy for $319..so I would say they are in the same price range http://server.sohouniverse.net/~himo...hp?id=396&=SID http://server.sohouniverse.net/~himo...hp?id=397&=SID

I'm talking the short arm version ~Hurricane - Torpida etc.~ I personally think the are missing the boat when they dropped the Earthquake, (same old design) they are almost bullet proof and a lot of tough fun [:-]

Hey man, I feel your pain because your story was my story before I decided to cut my losses and save for two better buggies; a Losi8 and a RC8. I'm not going to hate on Redcat because they enable a lot of folks to experience RC racing that have tight budgets. I learned a lot about fixing my own car when I owned a Hurricane, but I grew frustrated when I had to order then wait and wait and wait for parts. The problem is they just don't seem to hold up very well on average, parts have to be ordered, and sometimes it takes a while to get those parts. However, my buddy and fellow RC U member swears by them and has had great luck with them. I didn't.

pics would be killer. Thats the one big thing I try to explaing when buying a rc car, how easy is it to get the parts? If your lhs only carries losi stuff and you run a mugen, chances are your going to wait a few days before you can get parts in. As far as redcat, Ive heard many stories about parts and how they seem to take forever.
Anyway, post them up.

it takes forever to get redcat parts when you order them through redcat...Iknow the one and only time I ordered directly from redcat it took forever and a day ....if you go through a dealer you get it within 4 days...usually 3....thats if they were able to get the parts through redcat....2 of my buggies started off as redcats but i only order himoto parts now so I conceder them himoto torpedas...redcats parts has a alot to be desired thats for sure...if a person has a redcat they should order from a dealer or order himoto parts...
