The engine started!!!
Yeah, it's not a solo story but I fired the engine up on the DuraPlane tonight and it ran. Hand started... Happy times. I ran through the recommended break in procedures for the OS 46. Nice switches from 2 to 4 stroke running with the mixture with the first tank. (after I fixed the swithced fuel lines.... I swear I marked them correctly).
Second tank... not so good. Leaned to recommended point... any other increase in throttle killed the engine.
Rain started... darkness fell... we'll wait until tomorrow to sort it out.
My thoughts are to:
1 refuel.
2 try to fire it up again.
3 observe.
It seems like it was "sucking dry" when I would try to push up the throttle. When I would try to "prime" it by blowing in the exhaust tube, it would sometimes seem to pause before I would see fuel flowing between the needle and the carb. Not sure of that's a blockage or what... something to keep in mind. Also, it seemed like there were a good bit of air bubbles flowing from the needle to the carb.
Long story short... it was fun but I have work to do. Unfortunately it looks like it won't be ready for a "once over" Thursday at the first club meeting. No worries.
Fingers crossed... Thanks to everybody here for the fantastic info.
